Aren't the US military leaders slowing down the repeal of "don't ask don't tell" just saying...?

..."We need more research to know just how bigoted our soldiers are"? I was an infantryman (Ranger) in Desert Storm, and to force men and women who want to serve to lie is a moral slight on the US military. Why are the nonsense excuses even being considered?
