Should i go through with a restraining order?

This friday my ex fiancee and I went through a horrible seperation. He moved out and while he was moving out we got in a fight and and it became physical. I have bruises on me now. I filed a police report today. I didn't want to do it on friday because i was trying to be nice and not hurt him in any sence. because i cared for him alot at one point. I have had no contact with him since friday. He took everything that was his from the house. I had to move out of the county so he wouldn't hurt me again. I went through alot of mental abuse in the 4 years that I was with him. We had a bank account that we both used to put money in and pay bills I was in charge of paying all the bills so I had controll of the bank account even though it was under his name. He gave me authorization to do so. He has been threatning me via email that he will send me to jail because I stold money from him, I never did we used money to pay bills. can I be accused of stealing money from him? He also gave me 2 purses as gifts one for my birthday and another just because he wants those back to, can he take me to court for that? I have bruises on my legs, the officer today took pictures of them? He has been contacting my family via email and telling them I will be in jail where it is nice and cold! What can I do? I am afraid of him at this point. I know now he is doing drugs. Should I go foward with the restraining order?
